"Airplanes cannot get there. The only way is the land route," Sugiono remarked in Saint Petersburg, Russia, Wednesday local time.
He noted that some 380 Indonesians are currently in Iran, especially in Tehran. Sugiono observed that the situation is becoming more violent, with increasing strikes targeting both civilians and military sites.
His administration has sent directives to the embassy in Tehran to assess the evacuation plan and contingencies. Moreover, communication has been established with Iran's neighboring countries to ensure Indonesians can cross borders seamlessly if an evacuation becomes necessary.

The minister has also maintained extensive communication with nationals in Iran to ensure they remain connected to the Embassy at all times and can respond immediately if an evacuation is announced.
Foreign affairs ministers from countries in the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation will also convene for an emergency conference in Istanbul, Türkiye, on Saturday, June 21, to discuss developments in Iran-Israel conflicts, he stated.
Since June 13, 2025, Israel launched large-scale strikes on Iran, targeting some nuclear sites in some cities, as well as some military command centers.
In response to the strike, Iran launched ballistic missiles at Israel, killing 24 and injuring 500.
Indonesia has condemned Israel's strikes on Iran, calling them a violation of international law.
